Seaway Academy is a major training provider for the Offshore Oil and Gas Industry with our training center located in Bangkok, Thailand. Seaway Academy is a subsidiary of Seaway Maritime Services Co., Ltd., Thailand.

Our Management Team

Nichapha Wright (ณิชาภา ไรท์) / Managing Director - Nichapha is a Thai National and a Canadian PR. She manages all business related to Thai operations and finance, and is the main point of contact for both English and Thai students. Nicha is a graduate of Sukhothai Thammathirat University, Bangkok, Thailand; Business Studies, majoring in English, and has also completed a Bachelors Degree in English.

Captain David Wright / Founder / Managing Director - Operations Manager / Training - Canadian Master Mariner and an STCW Certified Instructor and Examiner with Transport Canada (TC), Maritime and Coastguard Agency - UK (MCA), United States Coast Guard (USCG), Liberia, Marshall Islands, Vanuatu and the International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC). Additionally, a certified Nautical Safety Inspector/Auditor (Liberia), as well as a College graduate of both Business and Education. Maritime career began on foreign going oil tankers, bulk carriers and deep sea towing before moving into the Offshore Oil Industry. Worked as Master on several offshore supply vessels (AHTS & PSV) throughout the world and as Master on Drill Ships and Jack-up Oil Rigs. MODU experience also included working as a C/O on a Semi-submersible oil rig. 17+ years’ experience as Master on various types of vessels.

Lectured for six years at the Nova Scotia Nautical Institute, Canada, delivering Ship Stability and several other courses related to Marine Officer Certification; also taught MODU Comprehensive Stability globally over a four year period as the Marine Training Supervisor with Transocean Offshore Drilling in their training centers throughout the world. Author and publisher of "Deckhand Training Manual for Offshore Oilfield Vessels" (ISBN 978-6164135253) and "MODU Stability & Management" (ISBN 978-6164135260). 

David Buck, LCDR, RAN (ret’d) / Lead Trainer (Global) - OIMCE, MEMIR, EMT/Onshore Support Team - David completed 37 years in the Royal Australian Navy, his final position in the RAN was as Executive Director of the SHIPSAFE Board and in this position he was responsible for all aspects of safety and emergency management for the surface fleet of the RAN. He retired in 2004 with the rank of LCDR, having had postings to all classes of surface ship; the USA on exchange for 2 years; and representational posting to the Australian Embassy Thailand for 3 years.

David is an advanced Thai linguist and has been delivering OIMCE and MEMIR training to the OPITO standard since 2008. He was lead trainer for MSTS in Malaysia for 5 years, and CEO and lead trainer for Crisis and Emergency Management Solutions Thailand Co. Ltd. (CEMCT).

Using a portable simulator, he has been able to deliver training all over the world, most recently in Vietnam for MODEC. Other countries include Malaysia, Thailand, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Russia and Myanmar.

Online training - Comprehensive Stability for Ballast Control Operator (BCO) - (Basic Theory and Applied Stability / formally Stability 2).

Course to be completed as the five year re-certification process for a BCO and for any individual who has had a lapse of service of two years as an active BCO to be retrained utilizing this course prior to being re-employed as a BCO.

Online training for MODU Stability - Stability and Ballast Control for Mobile Offshore Drilling Units"- for oil rig crew required to attend Stability Training for OIM, Barge Supervisor, or Ballast Control Operator.
